The definition of Plasmolysis:
- Process occurring in bacteria and plants in which the protoplasma shrinks away from the rigid cell wall when the cell is placed in a hypertonic solution.
- Plasmolysis is due to withdrawal of water from the cell by osmosis.
- This unique ability is very important to us because a nutritional supplement is only beneficial if our body can absorb and utilize the nutrients.
THE PRODUCTION PROCESS - The explanation
- The plants (herbs) are combined with the yeast in a special process.
- The active and auxiliary substances are taken up by the yeast cells (metabolised) or fixed on the cell membrane.
- A further important stage in Vita-Strath® production process is the "Plasmolysis".
- During plasmolysis (liquefying or breaking down the yeast cell), the valuable constituents diffuse through the cell membranes (osmosis).
- During plasmolysis (liquefying or breaking down the yeast cell), the valuable constituents diffuse through the cell membranes (osmosis).
- They are released and can thus be taken up and digested by the body. The cell membrane itself is indigestible.
- The time taken from culture of the yeast to the finished preparations is about 2 months.
- By the special process of plasmolysis, the herbal yeast releases their nutritionally vital substances.
- This plasmolysed yeast also has the unique ability to transform nutrients that the body can absorb and assimilate.
