Test of the effects of Vita-Strath® Food Supplements on immunological parameters in long-distance runners
Both a poor diet and high-performance sporting activities weaken the immune defences and lead to increased susceptibility to infections. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich, tested Vita-Strath® Food Supplement in a double-blind trial with 16 male and female runners over 31 days (1/2 marathon distance: 21 km; time requirement: 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 hours).
The runners in the Vita-Strath® group recovered significantly better after the test run. This could be seen in the numbers of suppressor T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells reduced by the run and by the reaction to ConA.
